22 Macarena Fritz-Cefaratti, Upper School Spanish: For Spanish at the highest level, we use a more real-life approach. The advanced class does an integrated presentation about a person who is special to them. First, they create a bank of questions and select 36 to answer. Next, they write a detailed composition about this person. Then, students will interview their chosen person using the selected questions. Finally, they will present their findings to the class in Spanish. This project is particularly valuable because it helps students interpret and explore themes of identity and personal experiences while developing a closer relationship with the person they choose. The goal is for students to express their knowledge through investigation, make comparisons, and interpret ideas and life experiences of someone important to them. Renee Herman, K-12 Hebrew Scholars: With the integration of an immersive language program, UlpanOr, our students incorporate all five areas of language learning in both classic and modern Hebrew, aligned with ACTFL guidelines. From PreK through Upper School, we begin each class with casual conversations in Hebrew. Beginner-level students are highly teacher-directed, and learning becomes more self-paced as they advance. As students progress, they recite dialogues with partners and can complete the Advanced levels by Senior year. Our Absolute Beginner materials are perfect for Middle or Upper School students who come to the Kadimah program with no prior knowledge. Additionally, in our Hebrew classes at Park, we celebrate holidays, complete with customs and food.
