31 ALUMNI ASSOCIATION UPDATES Dear Fellow Alumni, Happy New Year! That old greeting seems to ring a bit hollow right now, after a major storm in Buffalo resulted in lost lives and the relatively minor inconvenience of postponed and rescheduled holiday gatherings. I feel it’s still appropriate to say Happy New Year because it is more than the turning of a calendar page; it’s an opportunity to do things differently, to see things differently. One of the many things I learned during my years at Park was resilience - rolling with punches, seeing opportunity in adversity, and striving to do better. I learned that in the years I played on a basketball team that didn’t win often. We never once lost the enthusiasm for playing the game and always carried the hope to win. We can all make this a better year by adhering to prime Park values - resilience, as well as lifelong learning, desire to improve, curiosity, kindness, and being open to new adventures. The annual Alumni Basketball Game recently returned after a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic. There were quite a number of alumni in attendance, playing and cheering from the stands to show support. It was a great time; a lot of Park School love was felt all around. I look forward to more events this year and hope to see more of you in the coming months. I have had the pleasure of serving as the Alumni Association president for two years now. I stepped into this role in the Summer of 2020, a few months into the COVID pandemic. Since then, I’ve truly been pleased to see Park’s growth over the last two-and-a-half years and appreciate the hard work all Park faculty and staff have put into the school. I have great respect for the school’s leadership duo, Lisa Conrad and Keith Frome. I am also pleased to report that the student body at Park is thriving. As a member of the Board, I am always so impressed with the reports we get from the student representative. I feel so grateful to have had a Park School education. We often look for things to improve upon in the new year - I think they are called “resolutions.” My resolution is to help bring more alumni together and remain connected to this incredible institution. I also hope to continue to carry some of the values that I learned at Park in my personal and professional life as I move through 2023. Wishing all my fellow Parkies the best in the new year! As always, please feel free to contact me with any questions, suggestions, or concerns. My personal email is theharrylipsitz@gmail.com. Warmest regards, Harry Lipsitz ’10 Alumni Association President SAVE THE DATE! Reunion 2023 is Saturday, June 10. All alumni are invited to attend, with special recognitions for the 3s and 8s classes! Email alumni@theparkschool.org for more info.
